CultureThe heart of the town
A violinist, twelve seafarers and a cannonball in the church wall – central Bergen in an hour.

Central Bergen burned in 1916, and the broad Torgallmenningen was rebuilt as the town's grand living room. Around it stand the statues of the men who made Bergen famous: the violinist, the composer and the prime minister.
The tour is short and flat and suits everyone. You have to count figures, find a stone every local knows, and search for something stuck in a church wall.
Good to know
The whole route is outdoors in the town centre and can be walked at any time. Flat and short, and fine with a pushchair. The cannonball at the last stop sits high on the wall – look carefully.
