A poet in the park, a town of white wooden houses and a fortress that is perfectly round.

Kristiansand was drawn on a table before it was built. In 1641 Christian IV decided there should be a town here, with dead-straight streets in a grid. The tour runs through the grid from the park to the sea. You have to read a plinth, count a tower and look at the shape of a fortress.

Good to know

The whole route is outdoors and can be walked at any time. Flat all the way, and fine with a pushchair.
