Two towers, a writer, a watchman's tower and a street in every colour of the rainbow.

Stavanger grew up around the cathedral in the twelfth century, became the sardine capital in the nineteenth and the oil capital in the twentieth. The wooden houses survived it all.
The tour makes a loop around the harbour. You have to count towers, read a plinth and spot what sets one street apart from every other.
Good to know
The whole route is outdoors and can be walked at any time. There are a few short hills and cobbles in Old Stavanger, where people live – walk quietly.
