For more than six hundred years Vienna was the capital of the Habsburgs, who ruled half of Europe from here. The old town inside the Ringstraße is full of traces of them.
The tour runs from St Stephen's Cathedral to the Hofburg. You have to look up at a roof, search for a tree trunk behind glass and count figures in a clock.
Good to know
The whole route is outdoors in pedestrian streets and can be walked at any time. The figures in the Anker clock pass one at a time; at noon they all appear. Flat.
